Colonels claim 6-3 win over @NKUNorseSB

RICHMOND, Ky. – Northern Kentucky softball fell in a midweek contest to in-state foe Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday afternoon, 6-3. The Norse drop to 13-23 overall while the Colonels move to 26-15.
 
 
At the Plate
  • Eastern Kentucky had 11 hits in the contest, while NKU had seven.
  • Three Norse had a pair of hits. Zahrya McFarland went 2-for-3 from the plate with two runs driven in, while Josie Frazier and Ava Lawson were 2-for-4. Frazier scored one run while Lawson added an RBI.
  • Toree Stalter went 1-for-2 and scored a pair of runs for the Norse.
 
In the Circle
  • Emily Koperdak pitched 4.0 innings, striking out two batters and walking two. She falls to 2-12 with the setback.
  • Hailey Whitmer added 2.0 innings of work, striking out one batter and walking none while surrendering just one hit and no runs.
 
Scoring Summary
  • EKU scored in the first, leading off with a drawn walk. The runner advanced to third and was driven in off a sacrifice fly to right field.
  • The Colonels added two more runs as a Norse error that allowed a run was followed by an RBI double.
  • Stalter provided NKU with its first hit of the game, singling down the left field line. She was driven in by a single up the middle by McFarland.
  • A pair of singles and a throwing error allowed the Colonels to take a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the third.
  • A two-run single in the fourth gave EKU its final runs of the games as the Colonels took a 6-1 lead.
  • Lawson singled through the right side in the top of the fifth, scoring Frazier.
  • In the final inning, McFarland added another RBI single, driving Stalter in off a shot to center field.
