Miami (Ohio) defeats @NKUNorseBSB in midweek action, 7-3

OXFORD, Ohio – The Northern Kentucky University baseball team fell to Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday by a final score of 7-3. NKU drops to 5-21 on the year, while the RedHawks improve to 22-5.
 
AT THE PLATE

ON THE MOUND
  • Tyler Ollier got the start on the mound. He went three innings, allowing just a run on three hits and two walks while striking out three hitters.
  • Noah Richardson (L, 0-3) pitched 1.1 innings. He was charged with three runs on two hits and three walks. He also struck out two batters.
  • Cameron Ross recorded the final two outs of the fifth inning, allowing just a walk.
  • Jake Dennis went on the mound in the sixth inning. He allowed an unearned run, while giving up two walks.
  • Joe Martin got the last two outs in the sixth inning. He gave up an unearned run and walked a batter.
  • Gunnar Barnard threw the final two innings on the mound. He allowed an unearned run on two hits and a walk. He also struck out a better.
 
KEY MOMENTS
  • NKU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Luty doubled to left center, and he scored on an RBI single by Paradis.
  • Miami tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the third. Colin Shepard tripled, and he crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by Cristian Tejada.
  • The RedHawks went ahead 4-1 in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded, Mackay Williams and Jordan Stephens drew back-to-back walks to bring home two runners. In the next at-bat, Charlie Harrigan hit a sacrifice fly to score Landon Stephens.
  • Miami added a run in the sixth to go up 6-1. Will Vogelgesang and Landon Stephens both scored on a throwing error in the frame.
  • The Norse got a run back in the eighth inning. Will Haueter walked and later scored on an RBI single by Murray.
  • Miami scored a run in the bottom half of the eighth to make the score 7-2. Vogelgesang scored on a throwing error.
  • The Norse tried to rally in the ninth inning. With the bases loaded, Haueter hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Wakeham. However, Miami got out of the inning without allowing any more runs to get the 7-3 victory.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Each team had seven hits.
  • The Norse committed four errors, while Miami had two.
  • Hedges recorded his third multi-hit game of the season.
