HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University men's basketball team embarks on its summer tour to the U.S. Virgin Islands Tuesday morning. NKU departs from campus early in the morning and is set to arrive in St. Thomas before noon.
The team will play three games, one against the University of the Virgin Islands and two versus the British Virgin Islands National team. The three games are spread between Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, with the two contests against the BVI National Team set for the latter two days.
After spending the morning traveling and acclimating to the local culture in the afternoon, the Norse will take to the court for an evening practice on Tuesday.
A team-building tropical treasure hunt around St. Thomas is slated for Wednesday morning. Included as part of the excursion is a community service activity, along with a trip to The Pirates Treasure, a local museum showcasing the history and artifacts of shipwrecks throughout the Caribbean.
Thursday morning and early afternoon provides some down time for the Norse prior to their early evening contest against the British Virgin Islands National Team.
A catamaran tour of Turtle Cove, which features a snorkeling lesson and opportunity to swim with the sea life highlights Friday's docket.
The final game against the BVI National Team will take place early Saturday afternoon. Then, the Norse will get some time to experience Emerald Bay throughout the early evening hours before returning home to Northern Kentucky Sunday.
