AT THE PLATE
ON THE MOUND
- Service threw for four innings in his first start of the year. In 76 pitches, he allowed five runs, eight hits and a pair of walks.
- Blaine Walters worked the mound for a couple of innings, yielding four runs, three of which were earned, on five hits and three walks.

KEY MOMENTS
- With runners on first and third, Furman brought home the first run of the afternoon with a single to left in the first.
- One of the best opportunities for the Norse to get a run came in the second. Bacon led things off with a double to the left-center gap, but three-straight strikeouts retired the Norse afterward.
- Two more runs came in for the Paladins during their half of the second. A couple of singles and a wild pitch put runners on second and third before a single to centerfield scored the pair.
- Doersching was in scoring position after an infield single in the fourth and a passed ball. The Norse then went out in order, however, and stranded the first-baseman.
- A pair of Furman runs came home in both the fourth and fifth innings. The fourth started with a leadoff solo-homer followed by another three-consecutive hits to score another run. With the bases loaded in the fifth, a single and a sacrifice fly sent home the next two.
- The streak of two runs an inning continued for Furman. The Paladins had runners on the corners in the sixth and capitalized on a single through the middle. One runner scored on the hit and another made it home after a throwing error by Murray.
UP NEXT
- The Norse head to Knoxville on Tuesday for a one-off game against the SEC's Tennessee Volunteers. The game will begin at 4:30 p.m. and can be watched on SEC Network+.
