@NKUNorseWBB heads south to Wofford for nonconference matchup

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky women's basketball will head south to Spartanburg, South Carolina for its next nonconference matchup, as the Norse take on the Wofford Terriers. The contest is set for a 6 p.m. tip off on Monday, December 20 inside Jerry Richardson Stadium.

• Northern Kentucky picked up two wins last week, first defeating Kentucky State at home 72-51. NKU then hit the road to Saint Louis where the Norse downed the Billikens 80-69.
• NKU is off to its best start at 7-3 since the 2015-16 season when the Norse began the year 8-2 overall.
Lindsey Duvall was named the Nike Horizon League Player of the Week (Dec. 6-12) after helping lead the Norse to back-to-back victories during the week, averaging 20.5 points per game, 9.0 rebounds per game, and went a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line.
• Duvall kept her double-digit scoring streak alive while in a Norse uniform, totaling 29 points in the win over Saint Louis on Saturday. Her streak of scoring in double-figures with Northern Kentucky is now up to 29 games.
• Duvall currently ranks second overall in the Horizon League in scoring average with 19.0 points per game. Duvall is first in the conference in total points with 190 this season, and is first in total field goals made with 65.
Grayson Rose continues to climb the charts in the NKU history books, as she currently ranks 14th all-time in career rebounds, 18th all-time in games played, and tied for second in blocked shots average. Rose jumped to second all-time in career blocked shots earlier this season as well.
• Rose currently leads the Horizon League in rebounding with 10.1 boards per game, and ranks first in the conference in total rebounds with 101 total. She additionally leads the League in total blocked shots with 29.
• Rose ranks eighth in the nation in total blocks with 29. She also ranks 12th in the country in blocks per game at 3.00. She has also been a force on the glass this season, ranking 22nd in the nation in total rebounds with 101. She ranks 28th overall in rebounds per game with at 10.1 as well.
• Kailee Davis made her presence known in just her third game played with NKU, as the freshman scored eight total points, including knocking down two crucial three-pointers against Purdue Fort Wayne.
Ivy Turner was named the Nike Horizon League Player of the Week during the week of Nov. 20-28.
• Duvall and Turner each received conference accolades with Duvall earning Horizon League Preseason All-League First Team and Turner getting an All-League Second Team nod.
• Northern Kentucky is off to its best start at 6-3 since the 2015-16 season when the Norse began the year 8-2 overall.
• The Norse were picked to finish fourth in the 2021-22 Horizon League Preseason Coaches Poll.
• The Norse finished the 2020-21 season eighth overall in the Horizon League. NKU defeated Robert Morris in the first round of the conference tournament before falling to rival and number one seed Wright State in the quarterfinals.

Last Time Out
Northern Kentucky women's basketball team posted a strong road win over Saint Louis in its last contest, defeating the Billikens 80-69. Duvall notched another double-double with 29 points and 14 rebounds. Rose also secured a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Turner totaled 13 points in the winning effort, and Emmy Souder and Carissa Garcia netted 10 points each. NKU saw five players score in double-figures, and the last time that occurred for the Norse was last season in a win over Oakland on Feb. 20, 2021. 
 
Scouting Wofford
The Wofford Terriers enter the matchup on a two-game winning streak after defeating Brevard College 101-37 and Appalachian State 78-65. Wofford has faced some top-tier nonconference competition so far this season, including No. 5 North Carolina State, Florida and Clemson. The Terriers have been led offensively by Jackie Carman with 11.9 points per game. Alexis Tomlin has played a huge role for Wofford so far this year, averaging 8.0 ppg and leads the team in rebounding with 8.1 per game.

Series Stuff
Northern Kentucky and Wofford have only met on the hardwood once before, on December 20, 2019 in Highland Heights, Ky. The Norse were victorious, defeating the Terriers 80-72.
