Nonconference action next up for @NKUNorseWBB inside BB&T Arena

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky women's basketball will conclude its home stand on Wednesday, Dec. 8 as the Norse welcome Kentucky State inside BB&T Arena for a nonconference matchup. NKU and the Thorobreds will tip off at 11 a.m. as well.

Fast Break Points 
• NKU posted a 1-1 overall record a week ago, with a 69-60 win over Purdue Fort Wayne, and a tightly contested loss to Horizon League leader Cleveland State.
Kailee Davis made her presence known in just her third appearance for NKU, as the freshman scored eight total points, including knocking down two crucial three-pointers against PFW.
Grayson Rose continues to climb the charts in the NKU history books, as she currently ranks 14th all-time in career rebounds, 20th all-time in games played, and tied for second in blocked shots average.  Rose jumped to second all-time in career blocked shots earlier this season as well. 
Lindsey Duvall currently ranks third overall in the Horizon League in scoring average with 18.6 points per game. Duvall does lead the conference in total points with 149 this season and is tied for first in total field goals made with 52. 
• Rose currently leads the Horizon League in rebounding with 10.9 boards per game and ranks first in the conference in total rebounds with 87. She additionally leads the League in total blocked shots with 25 this season.
• Duvall kept her double-digit scoring streak alive while in a Norse uniform, totaling a game-high 26 points in the win over Purdue Fort Wayne. Her streak of scoring in double-figures with Northern Kentucky is now up to 27 games. 
• Rose ranks eighth in the nation in total blocks with 25. She also ranks eighth in the country in blocks per game at 3.12.
• Rose has also been a force on the glass this season, ranking 22nd in the nation in total rebounds with 87. She ranks 19th overall in rebounds per game with at 10.9 as well. 
Ivy Turner was named the Nike Horizon League Player of the Week during the week of Nov. 20-28.
• Duvall and Turner each received conference accolades with Duvall earning Horizon League Preseason All-League First Team and Turner getting an All-League Second Team nod. 
• The Norse were picked to finish fourth in the 2021-22 Horizon League Preseason Coaches Poll.
• The Norse finished the 2020-21 season eighth overall in the Horizon League. NKU defeated Robert Morris in the first round of the conference tournament before falling to rival and number one seed Wright State in the quarterfinals.
 
Last Time Out
The Norse took down Horizon League foe Purdue Fort Wayne at home by a final score of 69-60. Duvall posted a game-high 26 in the contest, while adding eight rebounds to her stat sheet. Duvall went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line as well. Davis provided some huge minutes off the bench, totaling eight points, two assists and four rebounds. The Norse saw its offense catch fire late in the four quarter of this game, as Northern Kentucky closed out the contest on an 11-0 run over the final 2:37 of regulation for the 69-60 win.  
 
Scouting Kentucky State
Kentucky State enters the week after going 1-1 previously with a win over Fort Valley State (68-58) and a loss against Clark Atlanta (68-61). The Thorobreads have been led this season by Laurie Thomas who is averaging 10.5 points per game. KSU has seen offensive contributions from Hannah Henderson, Andrea Wallace and Taleah Dilworth, all which are averaging just over 8.0 points per game. Henderson also leads Kentucky State in rebounding, averaging 6.7 boards per game.
 
Series Stuff
Northern Kentucky has dominated this series with Kentucky State, currently leading all-time with a 40-5 record. The Norse are also 20-0 when playing in Highland Heights as well. The last meeting between NKU and the Thorobreds was on Nov. 19, 2009 in Highland Heights where the Norse beat Kentucky State 66-62.
