HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky men's soccer team took its first win of the season with a 1-0 result against Milwaukee on Wednesday afternoon. Both NKU and Milwaukee are 1-1 on the young season.
"First I'd like to thank the administration and all of the support staff for getting this game to go ahead," said head coach Stu Riddle. "These were the coldest conditions I've ever been involved in in a match and it made it very difficult for both teams. We needed these three points after dropping three points at home to Detroit Mercy last week after taking the lead. I thought we showed great resilience and great character to hold onto that one-nil win today when, quite fairly, they had a lot more possession than we did.
"This is a big move for this program; Milwaukee's the only team I haven't beaten in the three years I have been here, so it's nice to check that one off the list and know that we can compete and beat anyone in this league."
