HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Wright State pulled off the weekend sweep on Northern Kentucky women's basketball, defeating the Norse, 63-54, on senior day at BB&T Arena. The Norse move to 6-9 overall and 6-4 in conference play, while the Raiders are now 15-5 on the year and 15-3 in the Horizon League.
STATS LEADERS
- Ivy Turner led NKU on the afternoon with an efficient shooting performance, going 4-for-5 (80 percent) to score 14 points. She also had four assists in the game.
- Lindsey Duvall reached double figures with 10 points in the contest.
- Kennedy Igo and Kailey Coffey had nine and eight points, respectively. Igo had a team-high three three-pointers made.
TURNING POINT
- Nine-unanswered points by the Raiders started the second half, making it a 15-point deficit for NKU to overcome.
FIRST HALF SUMMARY
- The first Norse points came through Duvall, who sank a three-pointer to give NKU a 3-2 lead in the early-going.
- The Raiders followed with a 13-2 run. NKU's only score in that span was a jumper down low from Coffey.
- Coffey dished over to Turner for a three-pointer to end the run and Duvall closed out the first quarter with a basket. Through 10 minutes of action, NKU trailed, 19-10.
- A Turner and-one and three-pointer jumpstarted the second quarter for NKU, trimming the deficit to 23-16.
- A Palmer layup went in with 5:36 left in the half, but three of the next four baskets were owned by Wright State.
- Beginning with an Igo three-pointer at the 3:49 mark, NKU outscored the Raiders 7-2 to close out the half, going into the break down by six, 31-25.
SECOND HALF SUMMARY
- With an and-one, Turner ended a string of nine-unanswered Raiders points to begin the half.
- Following another Wright State basket, Igo scored another triple as NKU trailed, 42-31, with 4:45 left in the third.
- NKU was down 16 points at the end of the third quarter. Coffey had the last field-goal for the Norse in the stanza before Turner and Duvall closed it out with a pair of free-throws each.
- The Norse outscored the Raiders 7-2 between the 8:37 and 6:04 marks of the fourth. Duvall had a three-pointer, Rose shot a pair of free throws and Garcia laid one in to make it 57-44, in favor of Wright State.
- NKU closed the game out on a 10-3 run thanks to points from Taylor, Palmer, Igo and Garcia.
GAME NOTES
- NKU recognized seniors Coffey, Rose and Jazmyne Geist before the game as part of senior day.
- Duvall has scored in double figures in all 15 games this season.
- The Norse shot 7-for-16 (44 percent) from beyond the arc.
- NKU forced 19 turnovers in the game, which is tied for the second-most turnovers the Raiders have committed this season.
