League play resumes for @NKUNorseVB with trek to Youngstown State

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Coming off of its fourth win in the last five matches, Northern Kentucky volleyball now turns its attention to a two-game road trip against Horizon League-foe Youngstown State on March 1-2.

Quick Hitters
• NKU swept Cincinnati in a nonconference matchup that replaced a pair of canceled contests against IUPUI.
• Northern Kentucky will now travel to Youngstown State for matches on March 1-2.
• NKU is 10 all-time against YSU, but had to use all five sets when the two teams last met on Nov. 16, 2019. Of the five road matches in the series for NKU, two have gone five sets and two have gone to the fourth.
• NKU is climbing the national rankings in several categories, including ranking in the top-100 in aces per set (77th, 1.58), digs per set (73rd, 16.27) and kills per set (89th, 12.96).
• NKU is coming off of a 19-13 season in which it won the Horizon League Tournament championship and played in its first-ever NCAA Tournament.
• NKU also earned its first top-50 RPI finish, checking in at No. 49 in the final rankings of the 2019 season. In the first ranking of the 2019 season, NKU was 43rd, which is its highest ever.
• The Norse were picked to finish second in the #HLVB Preseason Poll for the second-straight year, garnering three first-place votes and 111 points, one behind favorite Wright State.
• OH Anna Brinkmann was named the #HLVB Player of the Week after terminating 18 kills behind a .441 hitting percentage to help the Norse down Cincinnati in straight sets.
• Brinkmann opened the 2020-21 campaign with four-straight double-doubles. She's averaging 3.50 kps and 2.90 dps.
• Brinkmann has 10 aces on the year and is averaging 0.5 aces per set, which ranks 54th-best in the country.
• S/RS Miranda Wucherer has two triple-doubles on the year, which are the second most in the nation.
• Wucherer was named #HLVB Player of the Week on Feb. 11 after averaging 3.00 kps, 5.88 aps, 2.00 dps, 0.88 bps and hitting .300, as well as recording a triple-double against Cleveland State.
• L/DS Ashton Terrill is coming off a campaign in which she earned her second-straight postseason accolade. She was named an all-league honorable mention in 2019 after being a first-team performer in 2018.
• Terrill is working her way up the Norse annals, scooping 1,735 digs in her career to rank 2nd all-time at NKU.
• Terrill's 5.73 dps rank 67th in the country.
• MB/OPP Kaelin Gentile boasts a .336 attacking percentage, good for 118th-best in the nation.
• OH Reilly Briggs returns for her second season with the Norse. Briggs was a #HLVB All-Freshman Team performer last year and is averaging 2.48 kps.
• S Katy Yopko is contributing 4.64 assists and 1.55 digs per set in her freshman campaign.
• NKU has five players averaging at least 2.20 kills per set: Brinkmann (3.50), Abby Kanakry (2.58), Briggs (2.48), Wucherer (2.31) and Gentile (2.20).
