@NKUNorseBSB falls to Milwaukee, 19-2

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky (8-11 Overall, 6-6 Horizon League) was defeated by Milwaukee (3-12 Overall, 3-5 Horizon League) on Sunday afternoon at Bill Aker Baseball Complex. After winning on Friday and sweeping Saturday's doubleheader, NKU takes its second-straight series win, 3-1.
AT THE PLATE
  • NKU finished with eight hits amongst seven different batters.
  • John Odom (2-for-3) was the only Norse batter to finish with multiple hits, both of which were singles.
  • Jackson Haas (1-for-2) and Sam Hedges (1-for-3) each had an RBI.
  • Eight runners were left on base for Northern Kentucky and eight were struck out.
ON THE MOUND
  • Kaleb Meeks (L, 1-1) had the start on the mound for the final game of the series. He pitched 2.1 innings and gave up eight runs on six hits and faced 17 batters, fanning a pair.
  • Blaine Walters took over in the third, working for 2.1 innings and gave up three runs on four hits, two of which were of the extra-base variety.
  • JT McGee came on with two outs in the top of the fifth. He was atop the bump for 2.1 innings of action, giving up six runs on five hits.
  • Bryson Lonsbury started the eighth inning and closed the game out, tossing a couple scoreless innings.
KEY MOMENTS
  • Scoring started early for both teams as a combined four runs were earned in the first. Three of those came from Milwaukee, two from RBI's and one by way of a wild pitch.
  • Haas drove in NKU's run in the first with a double down the right-field line, plating Marion, who was on through a walk.
  • NKU once again cut into the Panther lead in the second with a RBI-single from Hedges that drove home Liam McFadden-Ackman.
  • Milwaukee had 11 eleven batters at the plate in their half of the third, scoring seven, two of which were unearned.
  • Continuing their impressive performance, the Panthers earned a pair of runs in the following inning, making it 12-2.
  • With two outs in the sixth, a wild pitch made its way past the catcher, allowing another Milwaukee runner to reach home.
  • A pair of three-run homers in the sixth and seventh inning, respectively, made it 19-2.
 
UP NEXT 
  • Northern Kentucky will take an off-week before travelling to Purdue Fort Wayne for a four-game series. The series will take place Thursday, April 1 through Saturday, April 3. Game one will start at 3:00 p.m.
