DAYTON, Ohio – The Northern Kentucky University baseball team (2-8, 0-3 Horizon League) was swept by Wright State (3-5, 3-0 Horizon League), in a doubleheader on Saturday at Nischwitz Stadium.
GAME 1: Wright State 8, Northern Kentucky 1
AT THE PLATE
ON THE MOUND
- Kyle Klingenbeck threw the first 4.2 innings, allowing five earned-runs on five hits and a walk.
- Kaleb Meeks made his first appearance of the season, throwing nine pitches in the fifth and allowing a couple walks.
- Jon McGee closed out game one with 1.1 innings of work, giving up the last two runs on a couple of hits.
KEY MOMENTS
- Wright State used a walk and a stolen base to get one in scoring position in the first inning. The runner came home with a single through the left side to make it 1-0.
- The Raiders advantage increased by another two runs an inning later with a pair of solo home-runs.
- A leadoff double, a pair of walks and a single, respectively, scored three more for Wright State in the bottom of the fifth.
- Wright State hammered a two-RBI homer in the sixth, increasing its lead to 8-0.
- NKU prevented the shutout in the final inning with a leadoff double from Bacon, followed by another double from Moss to get on the board.
GAME 2: Wright State 11, Northern Kentucky 5

ON THE MOUND
- Nick Noble threw the first two innings, allowing five runs, all earned, five hits and four walks.
- Tyson Shaw relieved Noble for the third, giving the Norse a scoreless inning of relief.
- Blaine Walters went 2.1 innings on the bump, yielding no earned runs and two walks.
- Tyler Ollier and Kurt Lange each tossed for 1.1 innings. Ollier allowed one run, while Lange gave up two.
KEY MOMENTS
- NKU made it on the scoreboard much quicker in game two, securing two runs in the first. A single from Hedges, a walk from Odom and a single from Doersching loaded the bases. Hedges and Odom both made it home after fielding error from Wright State's second baseman.
- The Raiders tied the game up in their half of the first at two apiece.
- Wright State scored two more in the second frame.
- The Norse tied the game back up with another couple of runs in the top of the third.
- Doersching began the inning with a double and Moss placed a single to advance Doersching home.
- Haas struck a double of his own to move Moss to third. Marion then singled to left to plate Moss.
- Three more runs came in for Wright State in its half of the third.
- A triple from Moss and a groundout by Haas tacked on another run for the NKU cause in the fifth.
- The Raiders added a run apiece in the sixth and seventh, stretching their lead to 9-5. They had two more runs in the eighth to wrap up the game.
