INDIANAPOLIS – The Northern Kentucky men's soccer team (4-1) secured their fourth win in a row, defeating IUPUI (0-3), 2-0, on Saturday at Michael A. Carroll Stadium. The win moves the Norse into first place in the Horizon League standings.

Stu Riddle. "Our staff did a great job collaborating and putting a plan in place for today's match and I can't thank them enough for this. Tomorrow we will start prepping for another big match next week at home to Green Bay."
NKU SCORING SUMMARY
- Sam Robinson netted the first goal of the day at the 4:59 mark of the match. Ryan Godding had the assist on the play.
- Dylan Bufton took a penalty kick in the 80th minute and gave the Norse a 2-0 lead late in the match.
BETWEEN THE POSTS
- Daniel Bermingham picked up his fourth win between the posts and took his second-career shutout. Throughout the game, he faced 13 shots and made two saves.
MATCH SUMMARY
- NKU kicked off to begin the game and dominated possession in the early minutes. The Norse were awarded a goal kick at the 4:26 mark, which was followed by a shot by Robinson 33 seconds later. Robinsons' shot to the high-left corner of the goal went between the posts thanks to a pass from Godding.
- IUPUI attempted their first shot at 6:13, but it was saved by Bermingham in the up high and down the middle.
- In the first half, the Norse took five shots compared to the Jaguars' three shots. Bufton attempted two shots at 7:39 and 27:16. Following Bufton, Brodie Sallows took a shot in the early 33rd minute but was blocked. IUPUI missed two shots at the 8:43 and 29:07 marks, respectively.
- The Norse took the first shot of the half within the first couple of minutes. IUPUI followed up with seven shot-attempts before NKU could find the goal again.
- Roberto Burlew was given a yellow card in the 79th minute.
- A penalty kick by Armstrong gave the Norse the 2-0 advantage with 11 minutes left to play.
- Two Jaguars, Tommy Patacca and Anthony Saporito, were given yellow cards at 79:47 and 83:46 marks, respectively.
- Bermingham made his second save of the afternoon as IUPUI kicked a low shot down the middle in the 86th minute.
- NKU's defense held steady from there to take home the 2-0 win.
NORSE NOTES
- Godding's assist on the opening goal marks his 10th-career point.
- NKU has now defeated three opponents this season that it lost to a year ago.
- The last time the Norse won four games in a row was Aug. 5 and Sept. 2, 2018.
- The 4-1 start for the Norse ties the 2018 season for the best start in NKU's Division era through five games.
