HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky women's soccer team (8-1-2) put up an incredibly valiant defensive effort on Saturday, tying Milwaukee, 0-0, after two overtimes in the Horizon League Championship match. Unfortunately, the Norse missed out on the trophy after dropping the penalty shootout, 4-3, allowing the Panthers to advance on PKs.
"I continue to be proud of this team," said head coach Bob Sheehan. "We defend all over the field, I think our back line has been tremendous all year, Mimi has been outstanding, our midfield just works and our front line has been great. We shut out another team and it's a tough way to not advance."
BETWEEN THE POSTS
- Mimi Stines played all 110 minutes of the match at keeper and also defended in the penalty shootout. She had seven saves in the match and made an incredible save in the shootout that gave the Norse a one-PK lead.

- Greene, Kiley Keehan and Kailey Ivins netted the first three penalty kicks in the shootout for NKU, putting the Norse up one after Stines stuffed Milwaukee's third kick. Milwaukee was perfect from there while the Norse missed the next two.
