Klingenbeck’s complete game helps @NKUNorseBSB defeat Milwaukee, 5-1

FRANKLIN, Wisc. – The Northern Kentucky Baseball team (17-25, 14-19 Horizon League) earned its second-straight win over Milwaukee (17-28, 14-20 Horizon League), 5-1, on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Field.

AT THE PLATE ON THE MOUND
  • Kyle Klingenbeck was the only Norse on the mound in the game, going all nine innings and registering his third complete game. He gave up one run, seven hits and no walks, while punching out a career-high eight batters.
KEY MOMENTS
  • After three scoreless innings by either side, Milwaukee sent a solo shot to center for the first run of the afternoon.
  • Haas singled and Fisher worked an 0-2 count all the way to a walk in the sixth to put one in scoring position. Moss followed with a blooper to left to score NKU's first run.
  • Hedges led off the seventh with a four-pitch walk and Doersching crushed a home run toward left field for the third time of the series, putting NKU up, 3-1.
  • To load the bases, Doersching, Bacon and Wakeham all walked in the top of the ninth. Marion struck out for what would be the final out of the inning, but a wild pitch allowed him to reach safely and score Doersching, giving NKU another run of insurance.
  • Fisher followed Marion's at-bat with another walk, plating Bacon.
UP NEXT
  • The Norse finish their series with the Panthers on Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. ET doubleheader. Both games will air on ESPN3.
