HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky women's soccer team improved to 6-3-2 and 4-0-0 in the Horizon League with a 1-0 win at home against Cleveland State. This is the fifth-straight victory by the Norse as well. CSU drops to 3-7-1 overall with an 2-2-0 Horizon League record.
Sheehan's Statement
"One of the main things is we started getting some players back, we had some players that were in and out of the lineup for various reasons and we just pushed forward with whoever was here that night, and we competed and we worked. I think we're starting to develop a rhythm in the back, we obviously train hard on defensive principles and shape and spend a great deal of time on it. I think we're starting to get into the rhythm that we want to see moving forward."

Sofia Wilmes got the Norse on the board first in this conference matchup, as she guided the ball past the goalkeeper after some fantastic passing from both
Lindsey Meyer and
Kaya Vogt. in the 50th minute.

· Northern Kentucky's
Mimi Stines (5-3-2) recorded the shutout during the afternoon match. Stines would also make four saves and faced seven total shots as well.
· Kyla Valaitis (1-2-1) finished the contest for the Vikings in goal, and would total four saves and faced 13 overall shots.
Match Summary
· NKU began the match aggressive, recording their first two shots in the 2nd and 3rd minute.
Lydia Self and Vogt would see those shots miss to the right and left respectively.
· CSU posted their first shot in the 6', as Grace Grant fired on target but Stines was there for the save.

Kayla Wypasek and
Sofia Wilmes tallied back-to-back shots in the 14' and 15' respectively, with each just off target.
· Wilmes continued to test the CSU goalkeeper, striking a shot towards the bottom right of the net that would be saved by Valaitis.
· NKU ended the opening period with an additional shot in the 42' as
Jamie Lehker made the attempt on the CSU goal.
· NKU opened the second half with what went on to be the game-winner from
Sofia Wilmes in the 50'.

Madelyn Koewler kept the pressure on CSU with a shot in the 52' also.

Lydia Self fired a
Lindsey Meyer looked to keep her hot streak of find the net going with an shot on goal in the 59' but was secured by the Viking keeper.

Lydia Self blasted a shot in the 72' that would ultimately miss to the right.
·
Annie Greene looked to get in on the NKU offensive attack with a shot in the 79' on goal.
· Cleveland State made one final attempt on the NKU goal in the 88' but was no problem for Stines.
Norse Notes
· Northern Kentucky is currently on a five-game winning streak.
· NKU has shutout opponents now in four of the last five matches.
· The Norse out-shot the Vikings 6-4 in the opening half.
· Northern Kentucky would total three corners in this match, compared to CSU with four.
· NKU ended the day with a total of 13 shots, six of which were on goal. CSU finished with seven overall shots, five of which were on target.
· This was goal number three on the season for
Sofia Wilmes.
· This was the second assist this year for
Kaya Vogt. It was also the second assist of the season for
Lindsey Meyer as well.
· Stines, the reigning Horizon League Goalkeeper of the Year, posted her fourth shutout of the season. This was her third consecutive shutout in matches played as well.
