DAYTON, Ohio – Northern Kentucky volleyball powered their way through No. 3 seeded Green Bay Saturday evening with a 3-0 sweep of the Phoenix.
No. 2 seed Northern Kentucky (18-12, 15-3 Horizon) knew they had a fight ahead of them against No. 3 seeded Green Bay (23-11, 13-5 Horizon) tonight, and set one proved just that. This opening set featured a back-and-forth of multiple lead changes and ties, until NKU found their rhythm at the end as back-to-back kills from
Abby Kanakry and
Sequoia Hunt captured the first game at 26-24. Set number two was all Northern Kentucky, as the Norse just dominated the Phoenix with four blocks and a hitting percentage of .351 to cruise to a 25-17 win. The third and final set of this contest featured another tight battle between these programs, until once again the Norse dug deep and found that separation late in the set. NKU posted four-straight points which included kills from
Reilly Briggs,
Joy Banks and
Anna Brinkmann for the 25-19 win an 3-0 overall sweep.
