This Week in Northern Kentucky Athletics: November 8 – November 13

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Basketball season has finally arrived as the Northern Kentucky men's and women's basketball programs return to action! The week is also highlighted by women's volleyball looking to secure a top spot in the Horizon League Tournament and the final race of the 2022 season for the NKU cross country squads at the NCAA Division I Southeastern Regional.


MEN'S BASKETBALL
Saturday vs. UC Clermont (2 PM ET): Tickets | WatchListen | Live Stats
 
After opening the year on Monday, the NKU men's basketball program will host UC Clermont for another non-conference clash at Truist Arena on Saturday at 2 PM ET.

The Norse will look to rebound from an opening night loss to MAC favorite Kent State. Fans can purchase their tickets to the contest here and the game will also be streamed nationwide on ESPN+. Norse Nation can also catch the contest live on Fox Sports 1360.


WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Thursday vs. Lipscomb (Season Opener - 7 PM ET): Tickets | Watch | Live Stats
Sunday at Kent State (2 PM ET): Live Stats 

NKU women's basketball finally hits the court for real this week as the Norse open the 2022-23 season against non-conference foe Lipscomb this Thursday, Nov. 10 at 7 PM ET inside Triust Arena. NKU's home opener will also be 2000's Night by taking a trip back to the turn of the century. Fans are encouraged to dress like they're living in the early 2000's as they take in a night of music and fun for the regular season home opener.

Northern Kentucky will then face its first road test of the year, traveling north to face the Golden Flashes of Kent State on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 2 PM. The Norse dominated their lone exhibition opponent last week to gear up for the season opener, defeating the University of Indianapolis 87-68 inside Truist Arena. 

 
VOLLEYBALL

Norse volleyball enters the final weekend of the regular season as a trip northeast is on the agenda. NKU will first face off against the Penguins of Youngstown State on Friday, Nov. 11 at 6 PM ET from the Beeghly Center. Northern Kentucky then heads to Moon Township, Penn. to take on Robert Morris in the regular season finale, Saturday, Nov. 12. The Norse and Colonials are slated for a 4 PM ET match start inside the UPMC Events Center. 

Northern Kentucky looks to lock down the number two seed in the Horizon League Tournament after picking up back-to-back wins at home over both Purdue Fort Wayne, and IUPUI. The Norse currently hold a 15-12 overall record with a 13-3 conference record. 


CROSS COUNTRY
Friday at NCAA Division I Southeast Regionals (11 AM ET): Live Stats | Meet Info
 
The Northern Kentucky cross country program will toe the line for the final time in 2022 as a squad as the Norse make the short trip south to Louisville and E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park for the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional on Friday, Nov. 11.
 
The women's 6K race will begin the day at 11 AM ET while the men's 10K event will follow at noon. The top two teams and the first four finishers in the race not associated with those two teams will advance to the NCAA National Championships, held in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Nov. 19.
