CLINTON, S.C. – Northern Kentucky opened the 2022 softball season with a 5-0 loss to Tennessee Tech in the Blue Hose Invitational at Presbyterian College. The Norse dropped to 1-0 on the season while the Golden Eagles improved to 1-0.
 
At the Plate
    • Ella LeMonier went 1-for-3 for the Norse's lone hit of the outing. She singled to third base in the top of the fourth. Tennessee Tech hurler Alyssa Arden allowed no more hits and claimed the complete-game victory.
 
In the Circle

• Madisyn Eads faced 17 batters in four innings. She walked six, gave up five runs and walked two.
• Sydni Barnes pitched two innings and struck out three.

 
At a Glance

• The Golden Eagles loaded the bases in the first, second and fifth innings and left 11 runners on base throughout. Haeli Bryson drove in the first two runs with a single to left field and Tennessee Tech never relinquished control. A Norse error created leeway for two more runs in the fourth and Carmen Betts plated Abby Buettner with a single to left for a 5-0 lead. NKU finished the game with three errors.
