@NKUNorseSB routs South Carolina State 21-1 in five innings

CLINTON, S.C. – Buoyed by an eight-run second inning a 10-run fourth, Northern Kentucky routed South Carolina State 21-1 in five innings in the Blue Hose Invitational Saturday morning. The Norse improved to 2-1 while the Bulldogs dropped to 0-2.
 
At the Plate
  • The Norse collected 16 hits and drove in 18 RBI en route to 21 runs.
  • Tatum Biddle sizzled at the plate with a double, two triples and seven RBI. She went 3-for-5.
  • Ella LeMonier went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored.
  • Kendyl McKeough went 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored.
  • Jordan Jenkins and Charly Koehler both doubled.
In the Circle
  • In four innings, junior right-hander Lauryn Hicks (1-0) struck out four. She surrendered one hit and one run.
  • Former John Logan College player and Norse newcomer Hannah Colbert struck out three in her lone inning.
At a Glance
  • South Carolina State collected its run in the top of the first. Kayla Leslie reached base on an error, stole second and scored an unearned run soon after when DeAs Lowther reached first on a fielder's choice.
  • NKU exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the second inning. Sophie Margelot drove in Maddie Lacer to knot the game at one. Margelot worked her way around the bases and scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball. Tatum Biddle delivered her first triple, scoring Kendyl McKeough, Jenna O'Hair and Ella LeMonier. Biddle crossed home via Jordan Jenkins' sac fly RBI for the 7-1 edge in the bottom of the second. Lacer plated Charly Koehler for the 8-1 lead.
  • The Norse tacked on three runs in the bottom of the third. Tatum Biddle's second triple yielded two RBI. Biddle scored on Jordan Jenkins' ensuing double for an 11-1 edge.
  • NKU surged ahead 21-1 in the bottom of the fourth behind five hits, 10 runs and the Bulldogs' two errors.
