Six-run inning propels @NKUNorseSB to fourth straight win

CLINTON, S.C. – Northern Kentucky defeated Presbyterian a second time in as many meetings, capping their Blue Hose Invitational appearance with Sunday's 7-3 comeback victory over the host Blue Hose.
 
The Norse trailed 3-1 entering the top of the seventh inning and erupted for six runs on five hits to seal the win. NKU finished its first trip with a 4-1 record and dealt Presbyterian a third straight loss.
 
At the Plate In the Circle
  • Lauryn Hicks (2-0) garnered the win. In three innings, she allowed one hit and struck out one. Madisyn Eads pitched four innings, striking out three, walking one and allowing seven hits and three runs.
At a Glance
  • The Norse surrendered three runs in the bottom of the second inning but began digging out of the hole in the top of the third. Jenna O'Hair walked and came home on Jordan Jenkins' single to center field three batters later. 
  • NKU scored six runs in the top of the seventh to usurp the lead and set the stage for the victory. Presbyterian's two errors augmented the Norse's six hits. Tatum Biddle singled to right field and reached second on an error by Presbyterian's short stop. She scored on Trinity Robinson's single to center field.
  • Kaylee McGinn crossed the plate on Maddie Lacer's double, tying the score at 3. Charly Koehler scored the go-ahead run on Megan Lenhart's sacrifice.
  • The Blue Hose made a pitching change after NKU's next batter, Sophie Margelot, walked. Ella LeMonier promptly singled to right field and drove in Maddie Lacer.
  • Sophie Margelot scored on an error, making it 6-3, and Jenna O'Hair's single to center field plated Ella LeMonier for the 7-3 margin.

  • The Norse play in the Upstate Classic in Spartanburg, S.C. from Feb. 18-20. NKU faces South Carolina State at 1 p.m. Friday and South Carolina – Upstate at 3 p.m. the same day. The Norse play South Carolina – Upstate at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Canisius at 11 a.m. Sunday.
