HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky women's basketball returns home for the final week of the regular season, hosting Oakland in Horizon League action on Thursday, Feb. 24. Tip off is scheduled for 4 p.m. (ET) inside BB&T Arena.

NORSE Breakdown
•  Northern Kentucky enters the final week of the regular season set to host both Oakland and Detroit Mercy on Thursday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 26. NKU last took down Robert Morris on the road 64-49 and currently sit in fifth place in the Horizon league.
•  Grayson Rose is ranked for 14th overall in the nation in total blocks with 61. She is also ranked 16th in the country in blocks per game at 2.44. She has been a force on the glass this season, ranking 45th in the nation in total rebounds with 233. She ranks 51st overall in boards per game with at 9.3 as well.
•  Lindsey Duvall currently ranks third overall in the Horizon League in scoring average with 17.2 points per game. Duvall is first in the conference in total points however, with 430. She is also seventh overall in rebounding in the conference at 7.2 boards per game.
•  Freshman Khamari Mitchell-Steen is second overall in the Horizon League in total steals with 48.
• NKU currently sits at 18-7 overall with a 12-6 record in Horizon League play. The Norse are set to finish the regular season potentially tying the most wins in the NCAA Division I era for NKU and posting to most wins in the Horizon League since joining the conference.
• Rose is third overall in the Horizon League in rebounding with 9.3 boards per game, and leads in the conference in total rebounds with 233. She also leads the conference in blocked shots with 61, and leads in block shots per game at 2.4 this season.
• Duvall's incredible streak of scoring in double-digits in every single game she has worn a Northern Kentucky uniform was snapped at UIC (Feb. 1) earlier this week. Her impressive streak lasted 37 consecutive games.
• Kailee Davis was named the Nike Horizon League Freshman of the Week during the week of Jan. 10-16.
• Turner was named the Nike Horizon League Player of the Week during the week of Nov. 20-28.
• Duvall was named the Nike Horizon League Player of the Week during the week of Dec. 6-12 and during the week for Dec. 27-Jan. 2.
• Duvall and Turner each received conference accolades with Duvall earning Horizon League Preseason All-League First Team and Turner getting an All-League Second Team nod.
• The Norse were picked to finish fourth in the 2021-22 Horizon League Preseason Coaches Poll.
• The Norse finished the 2020-21 season eighth overall in the Horizon League. NKU defeated Robert Morris in the first round of the conference tournament before falling to rival and number one seed Wright State in the quarterfinals.

Last Time Out
Northern Kentucky closed out regular season road contests with a win over Robert Morris in Moon Township, Penn. on Saturday, Feb. 20 by a final score of 64-49. Duvall led the NKU offensive attack today with a game-high 18 points. Duvall posted a double-double as well, pulling down 11 rebounds. She additionally totaled two assists, two steals and one block to stuff the stats sheet. Emmy Souder finished the day in double figures as well scoring 14 total points on 6-for-7 (85.7 percent) shooting from the floor. Souder also grabbed five rebounds and dished out one assist. Northern Kentucky shot 24-for-53 (45.3 percent) overall in this game, including two quarters of shooting 60 percent or better.


Scouting the Golden Grizzlies
Oakland enters this matchup after splitting the previous week, first losing to Cleveland State 85-65, and then beating Purdue Fort Wayne 58-54. The Golden Grizzlies are led this season by Kahlaijah Dean who is averaging 15.3 points per game. Dean also leads Oakland in total points (321), steals (38) and ranks second on the team in rebounds (4.3 rpg) and assists (45). She has also only played in 21-of-25 games this season, starting in just 13 of those.
 


Series Stuff
The Norse currently hold a 10-9 overall against against the Golden Grizzlies, and have won the last two matchups. These two conference foes met earlier this season in Rochester, Michigan where NKU took down Oakland by a final score of 79-67.
