STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Northern Kentucky Baseball team (1-3, 0-0 Horizon League) picked up their first win over the season in the biggest way possible, defeating No. 7 ranked and defending NCAA Champions Mississippi State on the road Friday night.
FROM COACH PEYTON
"I'm very proud of our guys and staff," said head coach Dizzy Peyton after earning his first collegiate victory. "We have worked very hard for this moment and many more to come. They believe in themselves, and our process. They played their hearts out and left it all out on the field tonight. But that doesn't surprise me, that's the way we play. But the win was very special against a very good team."
AT THE PLATE
ON THE MOUND
- Kyle Klingenbeck (W, 1-1) started on the bump for the Norse, tossing 6.0 total innings and striking out five. Klingenbeck threw 83 total pitches, faced 25 batters and only allowed three hits.
