#HLWBB showdown with Cleveland State on deck for @NKUNorseWBB

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky women's basketball concluded their road trip this Saturday, Feb. 5 with a Horizon League matchup at Cleveland State with tip-off schedule for 2 p.m. (ET).

NORSE Breakdown
• Northern Kentucky looks to sweep this three-game road trip, as the Norse conclude travel at Cleveland State Saturday, Feb. 5. NKU is coming off dominant back-to-back wins over both UIC (71-41) and Purdue Fort Wayne (67-43).
Khamari Mitchell-Steen was named the Nike® Horizon League Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week for a second consecutive week for the week of Jan. 24 - Jan. 30.
• NKU currently sits at 16-4 overall with a 10-3 record in Horizon League play. This is the best all-time start in the NCAA Division l era for the Norse, and the best Horizon League start for Northern Kentucky as well. 
Lindsey Duvall's incredible streak of scoring in double-digits in every single game she has worn a Northern Kentucky uniform was snapped at UIC (Feb. 1) earlier this week. Her impressive streak lasted 37 consecutive games.
Grayson Rose is tied for first in the Horizon League in rebounding with 9.6 per game, and leads in the conference in overall rebounds with 191. She additionally leads the conference in blocked shots with 50, and leads in block shots per game at 2.5 this season. 
•  Rose is tied for 13th overall in the nation in total blocks with 50. She is also ranked 15th in the country in blocks per game at 2.50. She has been a force on the glass this season, ranking 37th in the nation in total rebounds with 191. She ranks 43rd overall in boards per game with at 9.6 as well.
•  Duvall currently ranks second overall in the Horizon League in scoring average with 17.7 points per game. Duvall is first in the conference in total points however, with 353. She is also fifth overall in rebounding in the conference at 7.4 boards per game.
•  Mitchell-Steen currently ranks first overall in the Horizon League in total steals with 39.
• Kailee Davis was named the Nike Horizon League Freshman of the Week during the week of Jan. 10-16.
Ivy Turner was named the Nike Horizon League Player of the Week during the week of Nov. 20-28.
• Duvall was named the Nike Horizon League Player of the Week during the week of Dec. 6-12 and during the week for Dec. 27-Jan. 2.
• Duvall and Turner each received conference accolades with Duvall earning Horizon League Preseason All-League First Team and Turner getting an All-League Second Team nod.
• The Norse were picked to finish fourth in the 2021-22 Horizon League Preseason Coaches Poll.
• The Norse finished the 2020-21 season eighth overall in the Horizon League. NKU defeated Robert Morris in the first round of the conference tournament before falling to rival and number one seed Wright State in the quarterfinals.

Last Time Out
Northern Kentucky posted a second consecutive dominating win over a Horizon League opponent on the road as the Norse defeated Purdue Fort Wayne 67-43. Duvall led NKU in scoring in the game with 15 total points on 5-for-10 shooting from the floor. Mitchell-Steen added 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals to help secure the Norse victory. Trinity Thompson led the Norse with 10 total rebounds and added seven points and two blocks in the winning effort. The Mastodons were held to just 1-for-13 shooting from the floor in the second quarter. The defense of NKU stepped up time after time in this game, holding Purdue Fort Wayne to just 4-for-17 in the fourth quarter and totaling just 10 points as well. 

Scouting the Vikings
Cleveland State enters this week after splitting the previous week against UIC and IUPUI on the road. The Vikings defeated the Flames in Chicago 54-45, but fell to the Jaguars in Indianapolis 82-64. Leading the Vikings offensively this season has been Destiny Leo at 20.0 points per game. Leo leads the Horizon League in scoring as well. On the glass CSU is anchored by Nadia Dumas with 6.4 rebounds per game. The Vikings' conference matchup against Wright State originally scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 3 was postponed and moved to Monday, Feb. 7. 

Series Stuff
Cleveland State leads the all-time series between these programs at 9-4 overall. The Vikings got the best of NKU in the first matchup of the 2021-22 season, as CSU downed the Norse 63-52 in Highland Heights. When playing in Cleveland, the Vikings lead Northern Kentucky 4-1 overall last beating the Norse on Feb. 6, 2020, by a final score of 66-62.
