RICHMOND, Ky. – Northern Kentucky Baseball fell in a midweek nonconference tilt Tuesday afternoon, as the Norse were defeated by Eastern Kentucky University by a score of 6-2. NKU drops to 6-12 overall this season, while EKU improves to 14-8 on the year.
AT THE PLATE
ON THE MOUND
- Kaden Echeman (L, 0-4) started on the hill for NKU, tossing 3.1 innings with a team-high four strikeouts. Ecehman allowed three earned runs and six hits while having faced 18 total batters against EKU.
- TJ Graves posted a relief appearance for the Norse, throwing 1.2 total innings, and went on to allow one earned run and one hit.
- Andrew Mulhern, Tyler Murphy and Bryson Lonsbury combined for the final 2.0 innings for Northern Kentucky on the mound as well.
AROUND THE HORN
- The Colonels struck first in the bottom of the first inning scoring two runs from an RBI ground out and a single to center field.
- NKU cut the EKU lead in half at 2-1 as Tucker singled to right field to bring home Gick.
- Eastern Kentucky tacked on two more runs through the fifth inning to hold a 4-1 advantage.
- The Norse saw another run cross the plate as Moss grounded out to first base, which saw McFadden-Ackman score.
- EKU capped off its scoring with a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the game at 6-2 overall.
NEXT UP
Northern Kentucky Baseball returns home for its next series, as the Norse will host Horizon League rival Wright State in a three-game series. Game one is slated for Friday, March 25 with first pitch scheduled for 2 PM (ET) from Bill Aker Baseball Complex.
