@NKUNorseBSB falls in tight battle against Morehead State

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky Baseball team (6-16) was defeated by Morehead State (10-14) Tuesday afternoon, by a final score of 4-2 from the Bill Aker Baseball Complex. 
 

AT THE PLATE

ON THE MOUND 
  • Tyler Murphy got the start for the Norse, throwing 2.0 scoreless innings as he shut down Morehead State to open the game. Murphy made his first start of the season today, and allowed zero runs, zero hits and cruised through six batters. 
  • TJ Graves (L, 0-1) came on out of the bullpen for NKU, pitching 1.0 inning where he allowed two earned runs, one hit and one walk. 
  • Michael Bohlen threw 1.1 innings of relief for the Norse, totaling one strikeout during his scoreless and hitless outing. 
  • Blaine Walters and Andrew Mulhern combined for 3.2 total innings in relief. The Eagles managed to score one run off of each pitcher, however both of those runs were unearned. 
  • Nick Noble closed out the game for NKU, tossing the final scoreless inning and facing four total batters. 
 
AROUND THE HORN
  • NKU struck first in this nonconference matchup, with a McFadden-Ackman single through the left side of the field to bring home Kain in the bottom of the second inning. 
  • Morehead State quickly countered in the top of the third with a pair of runs from a double to left field and a double steal that saw the go-ahead run cross the plate. 
  • Northern Kentucky tied things up in the fifth as Moss bunt singled to third which then forced a wild throw from the Eagles to see Odom slide into home. 
  • The Eagles however tallied a run i the sixth and seventh innings to cap off the scoring in this contest and take the game at 4-2 overall. 
 
NORSE NOTES
  • Brennan Gick continues to find ways to get on base as he is currently on a 15-game reached base streak. Gick is additionally on an nine-game hitting streak as well. . 

UP NEXT 
  • Northern Kentucky baseball prepares to hit the road once again, as the Norse will head to Wisconsin to face Horizon League foe Milwaukee in a three-game series. Game one is slated for Friday, April 1 at 4 p.m. (ET) / 3 p.m. (CT) and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
