DAYTON, Ohio – Northern Kentucky returned from a nine-day layoff between games to defeat Dayton 4-2 at UD Softball Stadium Tuesday afternoon.
The Norse erased a 1-0 deficit and overtook the lead in a dramatic fourth inning. NKU amassed three runs on three hits and took advantage of two Flyers errors to surge ahead 3-1. The Norse maintained control through the game's end.
NKU, playing its first game since March 20 due to weather-related postponements and cancellations, improved to 12-16 while Dayton fell to 8-16.

- Madisyn Eads (7-5) picked up the win. She started the game and later returned, allowing five hits and one run in 5.2 innings. Eads struck out four and walked two.

- The Norse twice loaded the bases in the top of the first but came up empty.
- The Flyers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on Grace Gressly's RBI single.
- NKU overtook the lead with a three-run, three-hit dramatic top of the fourth. Jordan Jenkins led off with a single up the middle for the Norse's first hit of the day was replaced by pinch runner Hannah Colbert. Tatum Biddle scored Colbert with an RBI double to right field. Sophie Margelot reached on a fielding error, advanced to second on the throw and Biddle scored for the 2-1 advantage. A Flyers throwing error allowed Ella LeMonier to reach base and advance to second while Margelot scored to make it 3-1.
- The Flyers had two errors in the top of the fourth.
- The Norse delivered two doubles in the top of the fifth. Kendyl McKeough led off with a double to left center and advanced to third on Olivia Pastin's sacrifice bunt. Maddie Lacer brought home McKeough with a double to right field and ensured NKU's 4-1 advantage.
- Madisyn Eads, who started the game and was replaced by Alicia Flores, returned to the circle in the bottom of the fifth with bases loaded and one out. Katie Reeg came home on Grace Gressly's RBI to make it a 4-2 game.
- The Norse left six on base throughout. Dayton stranded nine.

NKU hosts UIC (4-18, 1-6 Horizon League) in a three-game series April 1-2 at Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field. The Norse and Flames play Friday, April 1 at 4 p.m. They return Saturday, April 2 for a double-header at 1 p.m. All three games will be shown on ESPN+.
