@NKUNorseSB shuts out UIC in #HLSB showdown

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky right-handed pitcher Madisyn Eads went the distance in NKU's 2-0 shutout victory over UIC, Friday at Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field.

The Norse (13-16, 3-4 Horizon League) won a second straight game and fifth of their last six. The Flames (4-19, 1-7) stranded nine base runners on a night NKU's defense dazzled.

At the Plate
  • Kendyl McKeough broke open a scoreless game in the top of the third with a shot to right field that drove in two runners. She went 1-for-3 with the two RBI and has 20 RBI on the season.
  • Trinity Robertson went 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored.
  • Sophie Margelot went 2-for-2 with a run scored.
In the Circle
  • Madisyn Eads (8-5) picked up another victory behind poise and power in the circle. She allowed just six hits and the Norse defense backed her up to keep the Flames scoreless. Eads struck out four and walked just one batter. She threw 110 pitches.
At a Glance
  • Trinity Robertson blasted her third double this season to start off the bottom of the third inning. Sophie Margelot pushed Robertson to third with a single up the middle and then stole second.
  • Kendyl McKeough plated Robertson and Margelot with a single to right field and the Norse surged ahead 2-0 in a score that would stand through the last out.
