@NKUNorseBSB tripped up in finale at The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Northern Kentucky Baseball team (4-7, 0-0 Horizon League) dropped the final game of the series against The Citadel (8-3. 0-0 SOCON) Sunday afternoon by a final score of 9-5. 
 

AT THE PLATE

  • Treyvin Moss led the Norse at the dish going 2-for-5 with 2 RBI. 
  • Manny Vorhees and Noah Fisher each contributed multi-hit days as Vorhees recorded an RBI and Fisher totaled one run scored also. 
  • Griffin Kain chipped in a two RBI single and totaled one walk in this nonconference matchup. 
     
ON THE MOUND   
AROUND THE HORN
  • These two teams were deadlocked at 0-0 through five innings until The Citadel scored six in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Bulldogs recorded five RBI hits during this inning and scored the sixth run on a wild pitch. 
  • The Citadel scored another run in the seventh with a double down the third base line to push the lead out to 7-0.
  • The Norse got onto the scoreboard in the top of the eighth with RBI singles from Moss and Vorhees. 
  • The Bulldogs capped off their scoring in the bottom half of the inning with a two-run single through the right side of the field.
  • NKU began building a comeback in the top of the ninth as Kain singled to right center to drive in two runs. Moss then chipped in another RBI single to right field, but The Citadel held on to win at 9-5. 
 
UP NEXT 
  • Northern Kentucky baseball continues playing on the road as the Norse take the field next on Wednesday, March 9. NKU will take on Dayton at 3 p.m. (ET) and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
