@NKUNorseBSB get revenge on Eagles in road matchup

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky Baseball team (12-18) got revenge on the Eagles of Morehead State (14-17) in a nonconference road matchup Tuesday evening with the Norse coming out on top, 15-4. 
 
AT THE PLATE

  • Manny Vorhees and Griffin Kain each fueled the offensive attack in this contest tonight, with Vorhees totaling four RBI and Kain posting three RBI of his own.
  • Treyvin Moss, Brennan Gick and Noah Fisher each totaled two hits in the game. Gick additionally provided a home run and two runs driven in as well. 
  • Ryan Glass and Fisher each impressively racked up three runs scored in the matchup as well. 
     
ON THE MOUND
  • Drew Switzer (W, 1-0) got the start for NKU, throwing 2.0 total innings to pick up his first win in a Norse uniform. Switzer added one strikeout and went on to allow two hits and two earned runs during his outing. 
  • TJ Graves was next up for Northern Kentucky, tossing 1.0 inning overall and recorded one strikeout against the Eagles.
  • Michael Bohlen and Nick Noble combined for 3.0 innings total out of the bullpen, leading NKU in strikeouts tonight with four a piece. 
  • Zach Haigis, Bryson Lonsbury and Blaine Walters closed out the final 3.0 innings for the Norse, as each totaled one strikeout as well. 

AROUND THE HORN 
  • Morehead State jumped on the board early against NKU with a solo shot to center field in the bottom of the first inning.
  • NKU retaliated with a four-run second inning which included a Zach Minton bases loaded hit by pitch, and a Vorhees three-run double to left center field for the 4-1 lead. 
  • The Eagles cut the NKU lead in half in the bottom of the second with another solo homer, this time to left center field.
  • The Norse continued to see hot bats tonight with Brandon Tucker driving in multiple runs in the top of the third. Kain added a run as well with a solid plate appearance to draw a bases loaded walk for the 7-2 advantage. 
  • Gick provided an RBI single in the top of the fourth, and Kain went on to again draw a bases loaded walk for the RBI. 
  • Northern Kentucky posted four additional runs in the final five innings, including Glass bringing home Moss after a Morehead State Field error. Vorhees drew a bases loaded walk in the sixth and Kain provided a sacrifice fly to right field to see Glass cross the plate.
  • The Norse capped their scoring off in the top of the ninth as Gick crushed a ball to deep center field and NKU finished their domaince over the Eagles by a score of 13-4. 
 
UP NEXT 
  • Northern Kentucky Baseball will begin a three-game series against Horizon League opponent Purdue Fort Wayne on Thursday, April 14 from the Bill Aker Baseball Complex with first pitch slated for 2 p.m. (ET).
