CINCINNATI – Northern Kentucky Baseball (17-31) was defeated in nonconference action Tuesday afternoon by Xavier (28-25) on the road in Cincinnati.

KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME

• The Musketeers were all over NKU early in this cross-river showdown, jumping out to a 12-0 lead through just two innings.
• Northern Kentucky got onto the scoreboard in the top of the third with a Brennan Gick RBI single up the middle, which was then followed up with a Liam McFadden-Ackman RBI single as well.
• Manny Vorhees provided a spark in the fourth with a three-run homer to close the XU gap to 12-5.
• Xavier saw their bats heat up again later in this matchup, extending the lead out to 18-5 by the seventh inning.
• NKU began to generate a comeback with a Griffin Kain RBI fielder's choice and a Brandon Tucker RBI bunt single, but XU took the game at 18-7 overall in seven innings. 
   

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Manny Vorhees continued leading the Norse offense, after going 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI and one run scored. 
• Brennan Gick added a multi-hit day for NKU going 2-for-4 with one RBI, one run scored and one double.
• Liam McFadden-Ackman, Brandon Tucker and Griffin Kain all totaled one RBI during the matchup as well.
