HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky Baseball (17-32, 10-16 Horizon) was taken down in game one of this conference series by the Golden Grizzlies of Oakland (28-24, 17-10 Horizon) Thursday afternoon from Friendship Field.
KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
- Oakland began this contest with a bang, as a solo homer from Miller put the Golden Grizzlies up 1-0 in the top of the first inning.
- NKU quickly countered the Golden Grizzlies as Ryan Glass drove in Manny Vorhees from third on a ground out to even up the score at 1-1.
- OAK broke open the game in the top of the sixth, scoring five runs which included a two-run home run to hold the 6-1 advantage.
- Northern Kentucky began mounting their comeback in the bottom of the eighth as back-to-back doubles from Glass and Noah Fisher put the score at 6-2.
- NKU then saw a monster of a home run to deep center field from Liam McFadden-Ackman to cut that Oakland lead to just 6-4.
- The Golden Grizzlies unfortunately shut down the side in the bottom of the ninth to close out the 6-4 win over NKU.

- Liam McFadden-Ackman anchored the Northern Kentucky offense today, going 2-for-3 with one home run (4), two RBI (25), and one run scored (31). This was McFadden-Ackman's 13 multi-hit game of the season, along with his sixth multi-RBI game of the year as well. He
- Kaden Echeman (L, 2-8) posted a solid outing on the hill, throwing 5.2 innings against Oakland. Echeman recorded a career-high six strikeouts in this game, while allowing just two earned runs and three walks.
- Noah Fisher also turned in a multi-hit game for NKU today, going 2-for-4 with one RBI (24), one run (30) and two doubles (11).
- Zach Haigis provided a stellar relief appearance for the Norse, throwing 3.0 scoreless innings down the stretch and allowing just two hits and struck out two as well.
