DAYTON, Ohio – The No. 6 seeded Northern Kentucky Baseball program (19-34) was defeated by rival and No. 1 seed Wright State (28-25) Thursday afternoon by a final score of 18-4.
KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
- Wright State jumped ahead of the Norse with three home runs through four innings and ultimately held a 9-0 lead.
- NKU got on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth with a Liam McFadden-Ackman solo home run to left center field.
- The Raiders continued to stay hot at the plate, extending their lead out to 14-1 through seven innings.
- Northern Kentucky looked to get the offense going in the top of the eighth beginning with Manny Vorhees bringing home Griffin Kain on a sacrifice fly to center field. Brandon Tucker then scored from third base on a WSU wild pitch.
- The Norse capped off their scoring with a Ryan Glass RBI single to right field to see Zack Minton cross the plate to put the score at 14-4.
- WSU was not done however, putting up four additional runs to take the game at 18-4 overall.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Ryan Glass led the NKU offense going 2-for-3 with one RBI and one stolen base on the day.
- Liam McFadden-Ackman belted his fourth home run of the year and finished the afternoon going 1-for-4 overall.
- Both Glass and McFadden-Ackman increased their RBI total to 27 in this matchup, as both are tied for fifth on Northern Kentucky this season.
