Game Recap: Baseball |

@NKUNorseBSB falls to Milwaukee in game one, game two canceled

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.  – Northern Kentucky Baseball (14-26, 7-12 Horizon) was defeated by the Panthers of Milwaukee (17-23, 6-12 Horizon) by a final score of 6-5 in the first of what was suppose to be two games this afternoon. Game two unfortunately was canceled due to rain and incoming inclement weather in the Highland Heights area.

KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
  • Milwaukee was on the scoreboard in the top of the first with a sacrifice fly to center field. The Panthers followed up with a two-run home run to right field for the early 3-0 lead.
  • The Norse quickly countered with some offense of their own in the bottom of the second as Ryan Glass stole third base and then advanced home on a throwing error by the MKE catcher.
  • NKU saw a pair of RBI singles from Michael Hall and Manny Vorhees tie the game up at 3-3 overall later in this inning.
  • The Panthers reclaimed the lead at 5-3 in the top of the third with another two-run homer this time to center field.
  • Northern Kentucky continued to fight back, as John Odom ripped a double down the right field line to drive in both Noah Fisher and Glass to tie up the game at 5-5.
  • Milwaukee went ahead once again in the top of the fifth inning on a sacrifice bunt to see a runner score from third base and that would be all the scoring needed for the Panthers to take the 6-5 win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • John Odom anchored the offense going 2-for-3 on the day with two RBI, one run and two doubles.
  • Ryan Glass also went 2-for-3 this afternoon, totaling two runs, one walk, one double and one stolen base.
  • Manny Vorhees posted a multi-hit day as well going 2-for-4 with one RBI.
  • Bryson Lonsbury posted 2.2 scoreless innings to close out the game for the Norse, only allowing two hits and recording one strikeout.
