HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky Baseball (15-27, 8-13 Horizon) split the day against conference opponent UIC (19-19, 11-6 Horizon) winning game one 7-1 and then dropping game two 11-7.
GAME ONE: NKU 7 - UIC 1
KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
- Treyvin Moss began the game with a bang, belting a solo home run over the right center wall in the bottom of the first inning.
- NKU extended that lead in the third inning with a two-run Noah Fisher double to left center to bring home Manny Vorhees and Brandon Tucker.
- UIC scored their lone run in the top of the sixth with an RBI single through the left side of the field.
- Northern Kentucky was not done scoring as in the bottom of the sixth with Liam McFadden-Ackman driving in a run with an single down the left field line.
- The Norse capped off their scoring this inning after a Vorhees three-run double to push the NKU advantage out to 7-1 overall.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Ben Gerl (W, 3-5) went the distance in this matchup, throwing 7.0 total innings and earing the win. Gerl only allowed one run on five hits and one walk along with totaling a season-high 10 strikeouts against PFW.
- Manny Vorhees had himself a day going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run and one double.
- Treyvin Moss posted a multi-hit day going 2-for-3 with one home run, one RBI, one run scored and one stolen base.
GAME TWO: UIC 11 - NKU 7
KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
- Northern Kentucky jumped on the board from the beginning once again with a Manny Vorhees opening pitch solo homer to right field.
- Ryan Glass then drilled a double down the left field line to knock in Noah Fisher for a 2-0 lead.
- NKU continued to see the offense roll in the second inning as Zack Minton hammered a double to left to bring home Griffin Kain. Vorhees then followed up with an RBI single to center field to drive in Minton and hold the 4-0 advantage.
- The Flames scored three runs during the fifth and sixth innings to begin their comeback.
- The Norse saw a pair of runs scored in the bottom of the sixth with a John Odom RBI double to left and then a Griffin Kain sacrifice fly to center.
- UIC managed to tie up the game with one swing in the top of the seventh, as a three-run home run put the score at 6-6. The Flames went on to push their run total up to 11 heading to the bottom of the ninth as well.
- McFadden-Ackman provided a pinch hit solo homer to left field in the bottom of the ninth inning but the Flames took game two at 11-7 overall.

- Vorhees posted a three-hit day going 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI and one run scored.
- Glass also recorded a three-hit game going 3-for-4 with one RBI, one double and one run scored.
- Odom, Kain, Minton and McFadden-Ackman all totaled one RBI a piece in this game as well.

Northern Kentucky Baseball will be back in action next on Wednesday, May 11 as the Norse will make the quick trip north to face Cincinnati. This nonconference bout is set for an 11 a.m. (ET) start and will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
