FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Northern Kentucky Softball (24-27, 12-13 Horizon) took two from Purdue Fort Wayne (7-41, 6-19 Horizon) on the road Saturday afternoon winning game one 1-0 and game two at 6-1.
GAME ONE: NKU 1 - PFW 0
KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
- The Norse only needed one in this series opening game, as Kendyl McKeough drilled a solo homer to center field in the top of the fourth which proved to be the game-winner.
- Lauryn Hicks allowed only one hit in the first inning and one in the seventh as she dominated the Mastodons throughout the entire matchup.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Lauryn Hicks (W, 7-7) was on fire today as the junior threw 7.0 scoreless innings today, only allowing two hits against PFW. Hicks totaled 11 strikeouts against the 'Dons, which ties her career high which she last recorded that mark at IUPUI earlier this season.
- Kendyl McKeough finished the day going 1-for-3 with one home run, one RBI, and one run scored.
- Olivia Pastin recorded the only other hit for the Norse in this contest going 1-for-2 overall.
GAME TWO: NKU 6 - PFW 1
KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
- PFW struck first in game two with an RBI double to center field in the bottom of the second inning.
- NKU saw McKeough once again crush a ball well beyond the right field wall in the top of the fifth for a three-run homer to give the Norse a 3-1 lead.
- Northern Kentucky continued to have hot bats in this inning as Pastin blasted a two-run home run to right field to extend the lead out to 5-1.
- The Norse saw a third home run hit in the fifth as Maddie Lacer belted a solo shot to right field to cap the NKU scoring at 6-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- McKeough had a monster day going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one run scored.
- Maddie Lacer finished the day going 2-for-4 with one homer, one RBI and one run.
- Pastin ended game two going 1-for-3 with one home run, two RBI and on run.
- In the circle Madisyn Eads (W, 7-8) pitched 4.0 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win, and only allowed one hit during her outing.

Northern Kentucky Softball hits the field once again tomorrow, Sunday, May 8 as the Norse conclude the regular season with a Horizon League matchup against the Mastodons of Purdue Fort Wayne. NKU will go for the sweep against PFW at noon from PFW Softball Field.
