EAST LANSING, MI – The Northern Kentucky men's and women's cross country programs battled through hot conditions and a field of over 470 student-athletes to post strong finishes at Michigan State's Spartan Invitational at the Forest Akers East Golf Course on Friday.

NOTABLES
- The women's squad got the day started with the 6K race, where the Norse were paced by
Megan Cole who finished 33rd overall with a mark of 22:38.17.

Jacquelyn Witt (97th/23:51.59),
Nelle Yankovich (110th/24:12.90),
Sophia DeLisio (117th/24:20.56) and
Chloe Boa (147th/25:14.53) rounded out the scoring attack for NKU in the top-five.
- The Northern Kentucky women claimed 13th overall and knocked off squads from Ball State and Valparaiso in the process.
- The men followed it up with the 8K race, where they took 15th overall as a unit.
- The Norse were led by
Kyle Mastin, who followed up his win at the season-opening Queen City Invitational with a 28th-place performance at 25:26.9 6.

Colton O'Hara (113th/16:55.69),
Nicholas Lee (121st/27:04.83),
Jacob Line (138th/27:32.09) and
Natnael Weldemichael (157th/27:49.74) made up the rest of the scoring student-athletes for NKU.
NEXT UP
Northern Kentucky will be off from competition for a week before returning with the prestigious Greater Louisville Classic, set for Saturday, Oct. 1 at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park. The site was the host of the 2012, 2015 and 2017 NCAA Division I National Championships.
