HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky cross country squads put on a show in front of the home fans as both the men's and women's teams raced to second-place finishes and
Kyle Mastin won the individual title on the men's side at the season-opening Queen City Invitational at the Valhalla Course on Friday evening.

NOTABLES
- Martin paced the men to their second-place finish as he raced to the individual crown with a top mark of 15:53.6.
- The Norse placed three more men in the top-four in Natnael Weldemichal (6th, 16:37.7),
Owen Mathews (8th, 16:43.4) and
Summit Northrup (10th, 16:54.7).

Colton O'Hara rounded out the top-five at 17:10.7.
- On the women's side, NKU saw three student-athletes cross the line in the top-10 and seven in the top-15.
- The Norse were led by
Megan Cole (3rd, 20:08.9),
Nelle Yankovich (5th, 20:19.4) and
Sophia DeLisio (7th, 20:39.1).

Jacquelyn Witt (12th, 21:01.6) and
Hope Erbach (13th, 21:34.6) made up the rest of the scoring attack for Northern Kentucky.
- On the day, NKU saw 14 student-athletes set new personal bests at the 5K distance.
NEXT UP
The Norse head to East Lansing for Michigan State's Spartan Invitational, set for Friday, Sept. 16 at the MSU Golf Course. The men will hit an 8K course for the first time this season while the women will have their second 5K competition in a row.
