Six Goals Leads Way to Norse Victory

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky men's soccer found their offensive groove Tuesday evening against the Keydets of Virginia Military Institute with a dominant 6-0 road victory. 

The Norse (2-2, 0-0 Horizon) exploded out of the gate with a 1-0 lead over the Keydets of VMI (0-3-1, 0-0 SOCON) with a Craig Wellens goal in the 9' minute. Northern Kentucky poured on the scoring late in the opening half beginning with a goal from a penalty kick by Sam Robinson (38'), followed with a strike by Brodie Sallows (43') and another goal from Simon Knuewe (45') to hold a 4-0 lead at the half. The Norse kept the offensive pressure on with two additional goals in the second half as Stian Jørgensen (70') and Parker Vasic (77') each netted a goal for the 6-0 overall victory.

  • Nic Lemen and Daniel Bermingham split time in goal today to help the Norse record the clean sheet against the Keydets. Lemen finished the day with one total save, and Bermingham made his 2022 debut during this contest.

The Norse are back in action next this week on Saturday, Sept. 10, as NKU will travel to Moon Township, Penn. to take on Horizon League adversary Robert Morris. This conference bout is set for a 2 p.m. (ET) start from the North Athletic Complex and will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
