HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University Athletic Department would like to welcome Jonathan Pyke as the Norse's new Director of Compliance, made official by NKU on Wednesday.
In his new role, Pyke will be responsible for managing all aspects of a comprehensive athletics compliance program that seeks to ensure compliance with NCAA, Horizon League, and NKU policies, procedures, regulations that emphasizes integrity. He will also be an advocate for the educational welfare of NKU's student-athletes.
"We are excited to welcome Jonathan to NKU Athletics," senior associate athletic director for compliance and student services and senior woman administrator Debbie Kirch said. "His legal background will be a huge benefit to our student-athletes and staff in areas like Name, Image and Likeness, but equally important, his passion for athletics will provide our department with a strong advocate in NCAA compliance. There are so many changes on the horizon in this area, it will be great having Jonathan on staff to help navigate that."

"I look forward to hitting the ground running, serving as an advocate for our department and our student-athletes here at NKU."
Prior to joining the Norse, Pyke most recently served as an associate attorney with Hilliard, Martinez, Gonzales LLP in Corpus Christi, Texas. He also had stops working the athletic offices at the University of Miami, Columbus State Community College and Ohio State University.
Pyke earned his master of law in entertainment, arts and sports law from the University of Miami School of Law in May 2020 and his doctorate from Capital University Law School in May 2019. He also earned his bachelor's of science in sport industry from Ohio State University in 2016. To go with his degrees, Pyke also studied for a year at the University of Oregon School of Law at the Oregon Summer Sports Law Institute in the summer of 2017 and is licensed to practice law in both the state of Ohio and Texas.
