Men’s Basketball wins fourth in a row; takes over sole possession of first in the Horizon League

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky men's basketball program took over sole possession of first place in the Horizon League with a big home victory over conference foe Green Bay, 68-50 inside Truist Arena on Thursday night.
 
With the win, NKU improved to 9-2 overall in Horizon League play. The Norse leapfrogged over Milwaukee (8-3 in HL play) to take over first place by themselves for the first time this season. Northern Kentucky and Milwaukee will meet on Saturday in a battle for first in Highland Heights. Tip is set for 4 PM ET at Truist Arena.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Marques Warrick was the top scorer for NKU once again as he paced the Norse attack with 20 points to go with an assist and a steal. The Lexington, Ky. native had an efficient night with a 7-of-14 marks from the field and a 2-of-5 evening from beyond the arc. With his seven made field goals, Warrick passed Greg Phelia and moved into 15th all-time for most career field goals in NKU history. He now sits with 481 career makes, three back of Dan Fleming for 14th in school history.
- Sam Vinson has found his scoring touch as the standout sophomore dropped in 15 points along with four assists, three boards and two steals. It was his fourth-straight game with double digit points and the 14th contest this season he finished with two or more steals.
- Celebrating his 23rd birthday, Xavier Rhodes added 11 points, five steals and three assists. It was a season-high in steals for the standout point guard.
- Chris Brandon grabbed 13 rebounds to go with six points, two assists and a steal. It was his 10th game this season with double-digit rebounds.
- Trey Robinson was another big contributor for NKU as he finished with eight points, two assists, and a steal.
- NKU improved to 12-2 overall in games played inside Truist Arena so far this season.
- The Norse also improved to 10-1 with a lead at halftime, 11-2 when they shoot a higher field goal percentage than the opposition, and 8-0 when NKU hits more three-pointers than its opponent.

Northern Kentucky remains in Highland Heights for a battle for first in the Horizon League as the Norse host Milwaukee on Saturday, Jan. 28 inside Truist Arena.
