NKU Volleyball caps off regular season with win at Purdue Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Northern Kentucky volleyball program wrapped up the 2023 regular season in northern Indiana Saturday evening, as the Norse took down the Mastodons of PFW in four sets inside the Gates Sports Center.

MATCH NOTES
  • Abby Kanakry had herself a night as she recorded five block assists against PFW to increase her career total up to 341 overall. Kanakry surpasses Jessica Buroker as the new Northern Kentucky Volleyball all-time leader in career block assists as she helped lead the Norse to yet another win. She also posted 10 kills on the day with a hitting percentage of .333 as well. 
  • Joy Banks also saw a career-night as she posted 25 kills in this contest, a single-game high for the junior from Macedonia, Ohio. Banks impressively hit .390 against the 'Dons on yet another career-high 59 attacks. 
    • She provided 12 digs in the match as well to record her 12th double-double of the season as well.  
  • Katy Yopko saw herself in the double-double club tonight alongside Banks with a team-high 27 assists and 10 digs in the victory. This was Yopko's fifth double-double during the 2023 campaign as well. 
  • Additionally NKU saw freshman Ivey Stocks in double-digit kills this evening, with 11 overall and a hitting percentage of .368 against PFW. Stocks' 11 kills was a career-high for the young Norse as she provided a huge offensive boost to the offensive attack.

Northern Kentucky volleyball will now look ahead to the 2023 Horizon League Championship Tournament which saw its field become complete with the final matches of the regular season came to a close. NKU will be the No. 4 seed in the #HLVB Tournament and match up against No. 5 seed Oakland with a Quarterfinal match scheduled for Friday, November 17 at 6 p.m. (ET). This year's conference tournament will be held on the campus of Wright State inside C.J. McLin Gymnasium in Dayton, Ohio.
