INDIANAPOLIS – Northern Kentucky University volleyball junior Joy Banks was named a Horizon League Under Armour Player of the Week as was announced by the conference office on Monday.
Banks, a junior from Macedonia, Ohio, led Northern Kentucky to a perfect 2-0 record this past weekend with wins over Horizon League opponents IUPUI and Purdue Fort Wayne on the road. She had an impressive overall final regular season weekend with 41 combined kills for 4.56 kills per set and hit .347 on 95 total attacks.
She capped off the 2023 regular season with a career-night against the Mastodons of PFW, posting 25 kills in the match on 59 total attacks. Joy impressively hit .390 against the 'Dons while providing 12 digs in the match as well to record her 12th double-double of the season.
Banks also anchored the Norse offensive attack against the Jaguars of IUPUI with a match-high 16 kills on 36 total attacks. Banks chipped in nine digs and two service aces to round out her stat sheet in the win as well.
Northern Kentucky volleyball will now look ahead to the 2023 Horizon League Championship Tournament which saw its field become complete with the final matches of the regular season came to a close. NKU will be the No. 4 seed in the #HLVB Tournament and match up against No. 5 seed Oakland with a Quarterfinal match scheduled for Friday, November 17 at 6 p.m. (ET). This year's conference tournament will be held on the campus of Wright State inside C.J. McLin Gymnasium in Dayton, Ohio.
