HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky softball program picked up a huge Horizon League win as the Norse knocked off visiting IUPUI by a score of 4-3 in a conference clash inside Frank Ignatius Grein Field on Tuesday.
The second contest of the scheduled doubleheader was suspended in the top of the seventh due to darkness. The game will be resumed on Wednesday, April 11 at 2 PM ET, followed by the series finale at 3 PM.

Ella LeMonier is getting hot at the plate once again as she finished with a 2-for-3 day that included a RBI, a run scored and a walk.

Megan Kincer posted a perfect 1-for-1 game to go with a RBI and two walks.
Trinity Robertson was also perfect at the dish with a 1-for-1 outing that included a base on balls.

Tatum Biddle added a RBI and a free pass in the contest.

Maddie Lacer (1-for-3, run scored) and
Megan Lenhart (1-for-4) also added base knocks for NKU.
- The Norse recorded a season-best six steals on Tuesday as LeMonier, Lacer, Kincer,
Brielle DiMemmo,
Victoria Flores and
Hannah Colbert all swiped a bag.

Lauryn Hicks picked up the win in the circle as she went two innings in relief. She allowed just three hits to go with three strikeouts as the Kokomo, Indiana native collected her third victory of the year.

Alicia Flores was also effective as she went the first five innings of the contest. She allowed five hits and three runs (all earned) to go with five punchouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- IUPUI got on the board first in the top of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead.
- NKU answered back in the bottom of the fourth after Lacer came around to score off a wild pitch to tie the contest at 1-1.
- The Jaguars scored two runs off a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth to retake a 3-1 edge.
- The Norse responded right away in the bottom half of the inning as Biddle hit a sacrifice fly that plated LeMonier to make it 3-2.
- NKU put on the late game heroics in the bottom of the sixth at both Kincer and LeMonier drove in a RBI as the Norse jumped back ahead 4-3.
- Northern Kentucky then slammed the door in the top of the seventh to seal the 4-3 conference victory.
GAME TWO TO RESUME ON WEDNESDAY
The second game of Tuesday's doubleheader was suspended in the top of the seventh due to darkness. IUPUI held a slight 5-3 lead heading into the final frame. The contest will resume at its current point tomorrow at 2 PM ET.
NEXT UP
To go with the suspended game at 2 PM ET, the Norse and Jaguars will conclude their season series on Wednesday in Highland Heights, with the finale still set for 3 PM.
