Men’s Basketball continues restocking of roster with addition of Ipassou and Darbyshire

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky men's basketball program has continued to restock its roster with talented student-athletes for the upcoming 2023-24 campaign as the Norse and head coach Darrin Horn made the signings of Fiston Ipassou and Bryce Darbyshire official on Friday.

FISTON IPASSOU | GUARD | ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA | ADELAIDE 36ERS

A native of Adelaide, Australia, Ipassou joins the Norse by way of the Adelaide 36ers and the world-renowned Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence (CoE).

The 6' 5" shooting guard has built himself quite an impressive resume as he makes his way to Highland Heights. Ipassou competed for South Australia in the Australian Junior Championships and as a junior player for the North Adelaide Rockets in Australia's highest semi-pro league, the National Basketball League 1 (NBL1).

He also played for the NBL1's Forestville Eagles semi-pro team where he posted averages of 9.58 points, 5.42 rebounds, 2.26 assists which led to the promotion to the 36ers.

As a top prospect in Australia's premier leagues, Ipassou has trained with such players as Dyson Daniels (New Orleans Pelicans), Tyrese Proctor (Duke) and Ben Simmons (Brooklyn Nets).

BRYCE DARBYSHIRE | GUARD/FORWARD | CINCINNATI, OHIO | SYCAMORE HS

Darbyshire, a local product from Sycamore High School, makes his way to NKU after a standout career with the Aviators.

The 6'4" guard/small forward was rated as the 74th best overall prospect in the state of Ohio and 9th best guard of the 2023 class by PrepHoops.com.

Darbyshire recorded averages of 10.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists to conclude his senior season at Sycamore. He shot 50 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from behind the arc en route to an All-Southwest Ohio Boys Basketball team honorable mention.

Darbyshire is also the younger brother of University of Kentucky walk-on Grant Darbyshire and competed for the local Midwest Basketball Club.
