NILES, Ohio – The Northern Kentucky baseball program was absolutely dominant in their 11-0 win over the Penguins of Youngstown State Friday afternoon. Junior
Ben Gerl commanded the mound, throwing a complete game shutout against YSU, while the Norse offense exploded for dobule-digit runs in the series clinching victory.

NORSE NOTES
- Gerl was nearly untouchable in this Horizon League matchup, tossing 9.0 full innings while only allowing five hits to pick up his third win of the season. This was Gerl's first nine-inning complete game shutout of the season and his career. This was was the first nine-inning complete game shutout for a Norse pitcher since 1972. Today's outing also lowers his earned run average down to 3.92 overall as well.
- NKU continues to lead the Horizon League in multiple hitting stat categories including batting average, runs scored, total hits, doubles, RBI, slugging percentage, on base percentage and walks.
- Fisher saw his bat come alive once again for NKU this year, driving in five total runs to put away the Penguins of YSU, which ties his career high dating back to last season.
- Moss continues to control the base paths as he swiped two more bags today, increasing his total to 18 on the year, and he leads the conference in the stat category, and he ranks 19th in the country in stolen bases as well.
