Norse Baseball Roughs Up Golden Grizzlies In Slugfest

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Northern Kentucky baseball program got back in the win column Friday evening after downing the Golden Grizzlies of Oakland on the road by a final score of 11-9 from the Oakland Baseball Field.

NORSE NOTES
  • The incredible season of Noah Fisher continues with yet another home run today, along with two runs batted in. This gives Fisher 18 homers this season, making him just two shy of the Norse single-season record of 20 by Griffin Doersching (2021). Noah is also at 66 RBI in 2023, just six shy of the NKU single-season record of 72 set by Steve Walton.
  • Fisher did cap a single-season milestone for Northern Kentucky Baseball today, with his one walk increased his season total up to 51 overall, surpassing Doersching's previous record of 50 in a season back in 2021 as well. 
  • McFadden-Ackman continues to have himself a break out season as well, as his two home run day increased his season total up to 15 overall, and currently sits in second on the team in RBI with 64. 
  • Manny Vorhees and Jayden Wakeham were named to the 2023 Valeo Financial Horizon League Baseball All-Academic Team, as was announced by the conference Thursday afternoon. 
  • Fisher continued to impress those around the nation as the fifth year senior was named as a Brooks Wallace Award semi-finalist earlier this week. This honors the top 25 best shortstops in the country at the NCAA Division I level. 
  • The Norse have totaled 29 wins on the season now, which is a NKU Baseball program record for most victories in the NCAA Division I era dating back to 2017 (25-33).

Northern Kentucky Baseball will wrap up the 2023 regular season on the road tomorrow, Saturday, May 20 as the Norse face the Golden Grizzlies of Oakland for the series finale. These Horizon League programs will meet at Oakland Baseball Field in Rochester, Michigan at 2:00 PM (ET) as well.
