HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky Athletics department was recognized by the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) at the organization's annual convention as the Norse took home the gold in Community Engagement and the silver in both the Branded Static Collateral and the Affinity Group Marketing categories at the 2023-24 NACMA "Best Of" Awards.
The Northern Kentucky marketing team took home the gold in Group II of the Community Engagement section off the department's 50-Day, Title IX celebration. Through collaborative efforts, the NKU Athletics Title IX campaign was birthed to honor and celebrate women in sports at NKU. The project placed women administrators and female student-athletes, both past and present, within the department front and center on NKU social media channels as well as within the community and on campus.
The Norse also picked up silver honors in Group II of both Branded Static Collateral and Affinity Group Marketing.
In a paid partnership with the Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky (TANK), Victor E. Viking was found all over the NKY community, featured on several buses that are utilized by Northern Kentucky residents and visitors to claim the silver in the Branded Static Collateral category.
The Norse also took home the silver in the Affinity Group Marketing category with the men's basketball team's Pen Pal Program. The program consisted of the men's basketball team writing letters to the 109 fifth-grade students at Ruth Moyer Elementary School in Fort Wright, Kentucky. For five months, the elementary students and men's basketball student-athletes exchanged letters monthly.
Initiated in 2003, the NACMA "Best Of" Awards program honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in several categories, with nearly 1,000 entries collected across the nation each year.
