HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky men's soccer program began the 2023 season against the Blazers of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Thursday morning from NKU Soccer Stadium.

Joseph Roddy netted his first goal of the 2023 season as he put away the equalizer in the final minute of action against FGCU. This was Roddy's second career goal in a Norse uniform as well.

Nic Lemen came on in the second half in goal to hold the Eagles scoreless for 45:00 minutes. Lemen finished the match with three saves as well to help lead the Norse to a draw.

Sam Robinson led NKU in total shots with two on the day, one of which of was on goal.

- Ale Rodriguez Lopez got the Eagles on the board in the 20' minute to take an early lead.
- NKU found an equalizer in the final minute of action as
Joseph Roddy found the back of the net to see the Norse draw FGCU 1-1.

"Our team showed a lot of character and resilience again today to earn a much deserved equalizer in the last minute. The goal was well executed by the guys and Joe did well to follow up on the play. We will continue to develop and improve over the next two weeks as we prepare for Horizon League play coming up soon."

The Norse will hit the road for their first away match of the season as Northern Kentucky will make the trip to Louisville, Ky. to face long-time rival Bellarmine. NKU and the Knights will meet inside Owsley B. Frazier Stadium with kick-off set for 7 p.m. (ET). This match will also be broadcasted on ESPN+.
