Women’s Basketball posts big victory over conference foe RMU

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky women's basketball program posted a huge win over Horizon League foe Robert Morris as the Norse collected an 83-51 victory inside Truist Arena on Wednesday night.
 
The win was the first Horizon victory for Northern Kentucky this season.

NORSE NOTES
- Blevins led the way with a 17-point, four assist and one rebound performance. The transfer standout has now averaged 19.5 points over her last two contests and has racked up nine double-digit games on the season.
- Mitchell-Steen returned to the lineup in a big way with 16 points and six boards. It was the tenth game of the year the junior finished with double-digits in points.
- McCray continues to prove she is one of the best centers in the Horizon as she went for her second-straight double-double, and sixth overall of the year. The standout freshman continues to lead the conference in boards per game (9.9) and is sixth in the Horizon in scoring (13.6 per contest).
- Davis made it four Norse in double-figures as she went for her sixth consecutive game with 11-plus points.
- All 10 Northern Kentucky student-athletes that entered the contest score at least one point.
-  It was all Norse in this one as NKU led for all 40 minutes of the conference clash.
- NKU jumped out to a 24-9 lead after the first quarter and held a 38-22 edge at the half.
- Northern Kentucky won the third by a 26-14 margin to make it a 64-36 game.
- The Norse also won the final frame, 19-15, to close out the big 83-51 win.
- NKU won the battle in points in the paint (38 to 12), points off turnovers (18 to 7), second chance points (14 to 12) and fast break points (13 to 7).

The Norse remain in Highland Heights for a showdown with Horizon League rival Wright State, set for Saturday, Jan. 20 at 4 PM ET inside Truist Arena. Women's basketball coaching legend Nancy Winstel will be honored with a special banner-raising ceremony at halftime. Admission for the contest will include tickets to the men's basketball game as well which follows right behind at approximately 6:30 PM, and can be purchased here.
