Men's Soccer's historic unbeaten streak ends with loss at IU Indy

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Northern Kentucky men's soccer traveled to Indianapolis on Saturday riding a DI era record eight match unbeaten streak as the Norse took on IU-Indy at Carroll Field. 

The record-breaking run came to an end on Saturday after a 2-1 loss to the Jaguars.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Northern Kentucky dominated the match in terms of shots, holding a 22-5 advantage in shots and a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal. 
  • NKU held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks. 
  • Tyler Murphy scored once again, notching his fourth goal of the season. He was assisted by Yonatan Cohen. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • NKU held a 9-3 advantage in shots and a 2-0 advantage in corners at halftime after a scoreless first 45 minutes. 
  • IU Indy scored in the 58th minute to take a 1-0 lead, but just 58 seconds later Tyler Murphy equalized the match. 
  • IU Indy scored the game-winner in the 81st minute. 

NEXT UP

The Norse head to Pittsburgh on Tuesday for their final non-conference match of the year vs. Duquesne.
